The Stainless Works retro chamber cat-back exhaust is a three inch cat-back for the 2011 to 2014 GT, and the 2011 to '12 GT500 that's made from the best materials, 304 stainless steel, and it's gonna to be for someone that's looking for a cat-back that'll make the S197 loud. This cat-back gives a lot of volume, and according to the customer reviews, it's one of the best sounding in many peoples' opinions. The install for this cat-back is not gonna be difficult. It's a one outta three wenches in the difficulty meter, and you can plan on spending about two hours to get the install done. The mufflers that Stainless Works uses are gonna be the key component behind the sound that this thing produces. They're retro-styled chambered mufflers. So you can see right here, that these don't really look like traditional mufflers. They look more like a straight through design but they aren't. These are cambered mufflers, which means that the sound here is gonna be a little bit more tame than what you get with a muffler delete kind of cat-back. Don't let that fool you though, this system is loud. I'm gonna call it a five outta five on the loudness meter, with a one being a quiet upgrade and five being a loud upgrade. The chamber mufflers here give more of a controlled sound than a muffler delete setup would. And I personally like that because you don't have uncontrolled sound. The cat-back is deep, and of course it gives more volume. It does have a small hint of raspiness to it, but just a little bit. And of course there is a little bit of gurgle in D-cell . Most people love this cat-back because it gives what a lotta people consider a true muscle car sound without being overbearing. Sound aside, this cat-back has some other good features to it too. This is a three inch cat-back that's made from 304 stainless steel tubing, which is the top of the line when it comes to materials. 304 stainless steel is gonna have the longest lifespan, especially if your car is a daily driver. And the tips are mirror polish, and they're 304 stainless steel as well. Price-wise, you're looking at spending just south of a $1,000 for this cat-back. This puts it right in the middle of the pack if you wanna compare it to other cat-backs. That being said, if this is a little bit too expensive for you, there are other less expensive options out there. I would just say to keep in mind the materials you want when you're shopping around for less expensive options because a lot of the less expensive cat-backs aren't 304 stainless steel like this one here is. When it comes to the install, you're gonna be looking at an easy one outta three wenches in the difficulty meter. This is considered a direct bolt-on item, so you won't need to cut anything or modify anything to get it installed. All that you're really gonna need is a socket set, and a lift would certainly make things easier, but the job can be done on jack stands as well. You're gonna be removing the exhaust from behind the stock mid-pipe, and so an extra set of hands can make things easier for you here. You will be moving over your hanger to the new cat-back. So I just recommend taking them off with the factory exhaust when you drop that. It'll just make the swap a little bit easier for you. When you go to install your new setup, it'll probably be easiest to leave everything loose until you have it all lined up and then tighten it down. The cat-back does come with four new clamps for use so you don't have to worry about picking those up. You can figure on spending about an hour or two from start to finish to get all of this done. That's gonna do it for this review of the Stainless Works three inch retro camber cat-back. And as always, feel free to head back to the product page right here at americanmuscle.com.
